The Gateshead Millennium bridge is built over the River Tyne in northeast England. The bridge links Newcastle and Gateshead. The bridge was designed by Wilkinson Eyre Architects and was engineered by Gifford. The origin of this highly innovative bridge occurred, when the Gateshead Council launched a competition in the year 1996, in order to construct a bridge to link the developments of both sides of the river Tyne.
